TR - Stratosphere 5-10 / 5-13

Wow, it%26#39;s been an hour..... I fear he was one of the tourists thrown off the Strat....

I hate it when they tease us like this...

Maybe we could make up Strat stories of what they did until they post their real TR. Just to keep us entertained, of course....

This is my first post so I wanted to start by thanking everyone or the tips and advice I found on this site.

My Wife and I flew into McCarran(?) @ 10:30 AM on 5-10 and decided to take a cab to the Strat rather than the shuttle. The cab fare from the airport to hotel was $24 but the trip was much faster than the shuttle route that we went on during our previous trip. The cab is the way to go in my opinion.

I got in line to check in while my Wife found her favorite penny slot ';The Sea Monkey';. While in line I get a call from her on my cell ';I just won 86 dollars!';. Not a bad start to the trip! Check in took 40 minutes even though there were only 6 people in front of me in line : (. After we got checked in we went to the Sahara and bought a 10 ticket monorail pass and rode down to the Flamingo for a late lunch @ Margarittaville. Taking the advice of the forum I ordered Nachos and our favorite beverages. We enjoyed the food and atmoshpere then wandered around the shops around the center strip before returnng to the Strat. TIP - Wear comfortable shoes!

My wife ended up buying 2 pairs of shoes on the trip and every pack of Band-aids she came across (lol). After returning to the Strat we played slots for a couple of hours w/out winning anything. We were both pretty exhausted from the day that began @ 3:00AM in Alabama and went up to the room for a nap at around 8:30.

Friday

Time warp to 7:30AM Friday. We both wake up and look at each other stunned that we had slept all night. Anxious to make up for lost time we rush to get ready and head down for Breakfast @ Lucky%26#39;s. The Breakfast there was OK but I can%26#39;t highly recommend this place as it is pretty average. We then decided that we would lay out at the pool for a while and spent a relaxing couple of hours there. This was a good way to start the day.

Later in the afternoon we ventured out on a walk and walked all the way to the Flamingo stopping at the casinos and shops along the way. It is a long, hot walk but we enjoyed taking in the sites and just being together in one of our favorite places. We had lunch @ Kahunaville and thoroughly enjoyed it. We returned to the Hotel via the monorail and got ready for the evening. We had VIP tickets to the X Burlesque show for 10:30 Friday night. We took the monorail back to the Flamingo and had the Buffet there which we both enjoyed as much for the atmosphere as the food. We had a table beside the Koi pond and Flamingo Garden. Everything was nice and relaxed until a group of thugs ran out into the middle of the Flamingo Garden scattering them everywhere. I expected to see an LA style beat-down but the guys made a quick getaway before security could respond. After dinner we made our way to the showroom, ordered drinks and enjoyed the show. The X show was a Strip club style show that you can convince your wife to attend with you! I enjoyed it and she tolerated it! Afterward we walked the strip hand in hand and took in the sights and sounds of Vegas at night. Life doesn%26#39;t get any better than this. We then returned to the Hotel and played until 4:30AM!

Saturday

Had B%26#39;fast and went back to the pool for a couple of hours. Very hot but also relaxing. We then headed over to Fremont Street via the trolley. Don%26#39;t take the trolley! We waited 45 minutes for pick up then had to endure several stops along the way before reaching the Golden Nugget. After getting there we really enjoyed Fremont. I know some on here knock it but I think it is what you make of it. There was a free country music concert going on which we enjoyed. Highlights here included frozen drinks from La Bayou (2 of these will guarantee a good time). We also had a .99 shrimp cocktail from the Golden Gate. I won a little on a slot machine @ Golden Gate but lost at the other casinos there. Incidentally there was a group called the ';Poverty Neck ???%26#39;s'; from Pennsylvania that were really good despite their name. They were a Rock/Country group that we both felt will make it big. In our opinion they were much better than some of the other artist on major labels (No, I%26#39;m not their manager lol). We left Fremont and headed back to the Strat to get ready for Dinner and the Bite show. Ended up rushed for time and had Dinner at ';The Courtyard'; Bufet. This was probably the least enjoyable meal of the trip. The selection wasn%26#39;t very large and the quality also wasn%26#39;t impressive to me. During a previous trip we had enjoyed the buffet there so maybe it was just a bad night. After Dinner we went to the Bite show @ 10:00. This show was 1 part vampire horror movie, 1 part classic rock and 1 part very fine topless women dancing. 2 thumbs up from me! You also get buy 1 get 1 tics when staying at the Strat. After the show we went back to the Casino intent on making up some of the several hundred $ we had lost. I put 10$ into a penny slot and promptly hit a 100$ bonus then went over to a dollar machine with my winnings. I put the 100 into a Wheel of Fortune and within 30 minutes cashed out 251 Dollars. We were still behind 5-6 hundred but I felt better. I walked over to my Wife who had found a new favorite penny slot named ';Lucky Lemmings';. She is low maintenance! She had watched an Asian Gentleman hit 800$ on a penny machine earlier so she was using this newfound technique on her machine complete with rubbing all the buttons during spins and alternately begging for Bonus spins and threatening to leave after the next spin. I was pretty tired so I talked her into cashing out her 40$ ticket and playing it on a 1$ slot. She agreed and went over to a WOF machine and sat down. On about her 3 spin she hit for 400$. That%26#39;s my Girl!. She got up to 450 and then cashed out at 400$. That put us pretty much back to the same amount of cash that we brought with us. A great end to a wonderful trip for us.

Sunday

Flight was @ 1:30. We grudgingly packed up and cabbed it to the airport (13$). We spent a bit of time stocking up on T%26#39;s to take back for our kids then boarded for an uneventful flight back to reality.

I apologize for the following:

- misspellings

- Gramatical errors

- The length of this report

- Not being able to share all of the events of this trip ';What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas';.

Sorry. I%26#39;m a SLOW typer and my memory was a bit fuzzy.

Sounds like a good trip! Breaking even%26#39;s about all you can hope for.

';We both wake up and look at each other stunned that we had slept all night.'; I%26#39;m glad dh and I are not the only ones to have this experience!

Nice finish to the report with the winnings at the end! It always makes the trip so much more fun. I cracked up that you got her to tolerate the strip show then held hands all the way back down the strip. Too cute!

Glad you had a good time and sounds like you make a cute couple.

Good t/r, but with all the trips to the Flamingo, why not just stay there next time to save some money on shoes and band-aids! LOL!

How did you like your room?

What floor and tower?
