Bally's trip report 5/5-5/8

Hi everyone,

I%26#39;m new to posting here, but I%26#39;ve been reading all of your posts for a long time and picked up a lot of really good advice.

DH and I arrived last Saturday from Houston and cabbed it from airport to Bally%26#39;s...no tunnel, just up Koval to Flamingo. Upon arriving, I went to Bell station to pick up my prearranged electric wheelchair. I had knee surgery 2 weeks ago, and still can%26#39;t walk but a few feet without pain. I had called a medical supply store a week ahead to request an electric wheelchair be delivered to Bally%26#39;s and told the man that I needed one with a wide seat since I%26#39;m a big girl. Well, I guess he must have taken that very seriously because the chair had a weight capacity of 600 lbs and could have fit a few of me in it. The foot rest was so far below my feet that you could put a suitcase under there.

The bellman looks at me and we both burst out laughing, but I took the thing and off I go. DH comes running after me as I do a wheely down the ramp to the bar and I%26#39;ll be darned if that thing didn%26#39;t just have a mind of it%26#39;s own. I slammed into a bar stool, which slammed into the bar, and almost knocked the man next to it off of his bar stool! OMG at that point all I could do was spin around and take off! And when I say take off, I mean about 5 miles an hour up a ramp, bumping into the sides of it, and down a hallway into the casino. I just knew that security was going to come and take me and my giant wheelchair to casino jail. I have no doubt that the thunder that I heard above was the eye in the sky staff rolling on the floor.

Anyway, we proceeded to head to our room on the 9th floor of the North tower. It was very nice and quite large, which was good since my wheelchair took up so much of the room. Our luggage arrived right behind us and then we tried to decide where on earth we could eat that would accomodate a chair the size of a small sports car. Eventually we decided that we would forsake the chair for my cane and shuttle it over to the Rio seafood buffet. Now for anyone that doesn%26#39;t know it, when they dump you at the shuttle drop off, you have to walk to the entire other side of the Rio to the buffet and stand in a loooong line. About half way there, I%26#39;m in excrutiating pain and DH says he%26#39;s worried that I may faint. I feel nauseated and so he sits me down at a slot machine and tried to find a wheelchair that we can use for a while. After a long time, he comes back and said he couldn%26#39;t find a chair, but did get his picture taken with some showgirls! Wouldn%26#39;t you just know that would happen.

Anyway, the picture was supposed to be free, so when he went back to pick it up, it was on the counter, so he just grabbed it and started to walk off. Low and behold, 2 Chippendale dancers chased him down and made him give it back because it was in a frame which wasn%26#39;t free. Now, for me, the idea of 2 Chippendale dancers chasing me is a fantasy, but DH was embarrassed and told them to keep it. So, I never even got to see what had taken him so long.

Eventually we did make it to the buffet, but I wasn%26#39;t all that enthused and just wanted to get back to Bally%26#39;s and my giant chair. And then we couldn%26#39;t find the shuttle! Thank goodness for cabs! When we get back I picked up my chair and we headed to the casino, me to my Alladin%26#39;s lamp slot machine and DH to the tables for all night gambling. Drinks were strong and the waitress came around real often....good service. Next report-Day 2-trading in my giant chair for a peppy little number and wheeling it to Mandalay Bay-yep all the way on wheels...By Myself!

Very funny report!!! I can%26#39;t wait for the rest.

I%26#39;d like the Chippendale dancers to chase me, too!

This was hilarious! Greatly looking forward to part 2!

I like your post so far!! Would you mnd me asking the price of the wonder wheels? I have thought about it this trip but can do without it I hope. May need it by September trip.

Thanks in advance.

Cracked up picturing the size of the chair and you lost inside it, then watching you crash into everything in your path.

Then felt bad for you at the Rio. He could have rented one at the bell desk. I just got back and that%26#39;s where I got the one for my mom.

Can%26#39;t wait to hear about you free wheeling down to MB

The wheels were $110 for 5 days and they delivered and picked up. As far as I%26#39;m concerned it was the best money I spent in Vegas. They can be rented from many medical supply places, just google it and you can pick which place you want to rent from. I think most places require a weeks notice for rental.

';OMG'; what an ordeal with that big wheelchair LOL--I laughed so hard I was crying!! sorry---I%26#39;m sure it wasn%26#39;t funny when you ran into that bar stool. Can%26#39;t wait to read the rest.

Hilarious!

You made me LOL鈥?.

Can鈥檛 wait for next installment

What a hoot! Drunk driving before the drinks.....

Too funny...it reminds me of the time my mother in law rented a chair to visit Disney in and it had a mind of it%26#39;s own. She got a ton of those glow necklaces and wore them on her head, arms and legs and all you could hear was ';OOPS...I%26#39;M SO SORRY!';
