Bally's trip report Pt. 2

Sunday morning we wake up and DH heads off to a convention, so I have my day to explore. We took a little electric tea kettle and some instant coffee so that we could have coffee in our room. That was a good idea since Starbucks was a 10 min. trek from our room. The first thing I did was to call my wheelchair rental guy and tell him that I had a problem with the chair. He met me in the lobby about 30 minutes later and took one look at me in the giant chair and laughed. ';Just let me go get something to help you';, he said, and off he went to his van. Back in he cruises on the cutest little wheelchair that was just the perfect size for me and off I go on my great adventure to pick up tickets for Mama Mia at Mandalay Bay.

I left Bally%26#39;s and rode the outside elevator up and over the Blvd. and into Bellagio%26#39;s, down another elevator and out to the street. It was packed since it was a weekend, and there was barely enough room to roll. Never did it occur to me that I could have taken the monorail to MGM and crossed the street to Excaliber and taken their tram to Mandalay.....that would have been too easy. Instead, I rode thru crowded sidewalks, construction zones, ramps with broken concrete that almost made me tip over, and around bums that were passed out on the sidewalk. Finally, I arrived at Mandalay with a sunburn, slight dehydration, and a resolve to finish this darned adventure.

I had ordered tix online for 1/2 price from a tip on this board, and when I went to will call, she said that I would have to park my chair and walk up 20 stairs in the mezzanine. Obviously I couldn%26#39;t do that, so she said that she would see what she could do. After a few minutes, she said that we could have wheelchair seating on the floor and she would let us have it for the same price. AWSOME!

After the torturous trip back to Bally%26#39;s, I played slots all afternoon and Dh finally arrived, back from conference and we dressed for Mama Mia. We called a handicab for this trip and when it arrived, the driver got out, rolled a metal ramp out from under the cab and told me to roll up and in. This was scary, but not nearly as scary as when we arrived and he made me roll backwards down this little narrow ramp. Anyway, we rolled into the theatre and I headed to the bar, leaving my Dh in the dust. I told the bartender that I wanted something tall and fun with Rasberry vodka and make it a double. Dh said to make it two. This was the BEST drink I%26#39;d ever had...it had about 5 different kinds of alcohol in it and by intermission, we were rolling in the isles. Mama Mia was really good too! Dh went somewhere at intermission and came back with 2 more of the same drinks. I have to tell you that I was a little worried about drunk driving, but I think everything went well because we eventually ended up back at Bally%26#39;s. Somewhere in there I remember eating something at Excaliber, but can%26#39;t tell you what or when. The perfect end to day 2. Tomorrow...Menapause, The Musical and Twilight Zone at the LV Hilton.

Wow, what a struggle to get to the MB! monorail and tram would definately been better for you, you poor thing!

SO glad you have great drinks and MamaMia is so funny and just lifts everyone%26#39;s mood!!!!

Next time, remember where and what you eat....lol

Bally's trip report Pt. 2

Enjoyed reading your trip report....sounds like you had a great day 2.

I have a niece getting married in Vegas in September and my mom doesn%26#39;t get around well, so I was thinking about renting a wheelchair for her but was wondering if you thought it was difficult to get around in it or did you find that it worked out ok. We will have a car but would use it more in the casinos to get around.

Any input would be appreciated.

Wow! What an adventure! Looking forward to Part 3. :-)

The only problem I found with the wheelchair is that they only have 6 handicabs in all of Vegas. If you find one, ask the driver for his cell phone number and that way you can call him ahead of time. We found a driver named JR that would find us wherever we were in about 20 minutes. As far as using a chair in the casinos, it was very easy to have my DH move the casino chair and I would wheel right up to the machine. Most places have ramps and elevators, so rolling around is pretty easy.

It sounds like you had a great time.

Keep it coming

Great Report… drunk driving, too funny

Boy cant wait for the conclusion.
