What Trip Advisor has taught me...

And now, the end is near..... off I go on Thursday, finally flying across the water to the West Coast, a trip that has been a year in the planning, 3 weeks with alot to see of which Vegas is the potential jewel in the crown. I challenge anyone to have read more posts in these forums that I have in this past year! I feel I now know the regular posters, some moody, some controversial, some with obvious gambling/drink problems! but all have offered little nuggets of advice and for that I thank you all....

I knew next to nothing about Vegas a year ago but thanks to this forum I now know/will do amongst countless other facts/opinions the following..

- Paris has a great buffet...

- Downtown slots are %26#39;looser%26#39;

- Ignore the porn slappers/time share sharks

- Go to the Peppermill Fireside Lounge

- Great views from Voodoo Lounge at the Rio

- Don%26#39;t walk from Stratosphere at night

- Casinos are far apart

- Drink lots of water

- Don%26#39;t %26#39;stiff%26#39; a waitress

- I know how to play blackjack/VP/slots now!

- Have a gambling budget and stick to it

- $20, will it work, we%26#39;ll see...!

- MGM is large

- Getting a helicopter to the Grand Canyon

- See the Bellagio fountain

- There%26#39;s a bus and a monorail!

- Buy tickets for shows on the day

- Always play max bet

- WHIVSIV

And so much more....

Many thanks to the local experts and those who have written trip reports, I%26#39;ll try to write one when I get back, hopefully it won%26#39;t say %26#39;lost all my dignity and money, didn%26#39;t do anything I planned%26#39;.

Thanks alot to the local experts and especially all the following who have taken time to offer their help....

lynnlin, Gamblerman, sonofagun, 1976cac, Veagashomeboy, travelcdn, laurasue13, Tyr52, BigVegasFan, bridgefan1, mtroh, vancouverkitty, TIALAURA, BoardingPass, ads, RudyA, Sharon211, VegasMom2Kids, Healey04, lsnyder, Warmwinds, grayhorse89, LeighOhio, Loveland, gus75220, 20TN40, joemole48, mhn14, ZekeKelso, LVGoer, teachrsue, janpo1, MissKIA, Nudgra, sarahmidd and everyone else who has ever posted on the site.

Have found the Vegas forum to be excellent and have really enjoyed reading it over the past year, it%26#39;s part of the whole holiday experience planning/reading, almost sad it%26#39;s nearly at the end and I%26#39;ve got to go..... NOT!

Cheers.

What Trip Advisor has taught me...

I won%26#39;t be far behind you as we leave on the Sunday. Can%26#39;t wait. I too am addicted to these forums and read them every day, always hoping to pick up some little snippet of news.

Where are you staying? We are at the Aladdin/PH and the IP. Have 6 shows lined up, including Elton John, Tom Jones and Phantom, and loads of places to eat.

Hope you have a great time and look forward to reading your trip report if I can find it after 2 weeks away.

What Trip Advisor has taught me...

Hi Incubus,

We will be there 3 weeks exact from today so are getting pretty excited as well. This will be our 5th trip to the States and the second to Las Vegas. When we went the first time in 2005 we didn%26#39;t expect much from it but were really overwhelmed by everything. I wouldn%26#39;t say that it is the best part of the whole trip but it is something not to be missed. You have to see it at least once in your life. Isn%26#39;t Tripadvisor the greatest site ever? I don%26#39;t know who set it up but that guy deserves a medal !! I have learned so much from it and use it every day. I wish you a great trip ! It will be one of the most impressive experiences in your life.!

I will also be there 3 weeks from today and I cannot wait. I found trip advisor a few years ago and still to this day find out about new and exciting things on this board.

I hope everyone has a great time and wins lots of money!!!!!

Jaco %26amp; Lowrance:

Did we forget to help this guy out?? I was hoping to see my name in lights.

Just kidding :) Have a wonderful trip incubus....i agree with you...half the fun is in the planning and learning about the destination.

Win BIG.

Ah, you see, now I feel like a right lemon, it goes without saying that all 3 of you,and more, have helped immensly, anyone reading these boards soon get to know that! As for Jaco%26#39;s trip reports.....should turn them into a movie!

I knew I shouldn%26#39;t have started writing names!

Have fun! and don%26#39;t foget your fanny pack..lol

';always play max bet';

look at the big $$$ in strip casino,

this may give you idea on who wins '; play max bet ';

phew Sweetsherry...glad you spoke... I thought I had failed to help...

But good ole Incubus is a stand up person.... included me. =)

I can stop crying now.... %26lt;sniff%26gt;

Incubus you read my mind!!! :) What I have left as we are so close to our trip!!!

I have been on only a month or so and have enjoyed every minute. I even got to play on the V V trip...it was fun. Now we leave in 48 hours and the list you have up is almost a duplicate of what I was going to say. Even though this isn%26#39;t first trip by far I have learned alot. (If you don%26#39;t learn something new everyday you can get brain freeze and get stuck in a rut. Ruts bad....Vegas good.)

I have to thank Lowrance, teachersue, 2b, stripcruiser, lots of the folks in your list and a cast of thousands!

I hope I can write a decent report after returning.

Okay....now that I%26#39;m over my selfishness and feelin%26#39; sorry for myself... Lmaoooooooo

Have a GREAT time in Vegas!!!!!!

And WIN lots of money!
