Just returned from Imperial Palace

Was feeling a bit wary due to the bad reports on here - but it was fantastic - flew BMI direct from Manchester - 2 hour delay - good seats and good food. Got a shuttle from airport to hotel for $6 each - 2 of us and there were only us two on the shuttle - the people in front of us in the queue to check in had come in on the same flight and got 2 taxis as there were 5 of them and paid $50.

We got an upgrade for free - 10th floor - went to the three elevators buy the keno desk and never waited for a lift. The room was fine clean - king size bed. View of the balagio from the balcony - but we don%26#39;t spend much time in the room anyway.

Dealertainers were brilliant - good entertainment every night. We picked up cheap drinks at Osheas and Casino Royale most of the time - we only used 1c machines but managed to stay even.

I would recommend this hotel both for its location and its food - we did try buffet on first day - but reverted to the coffee shop for the other days for breakfast - we ate out most nights - best meal was at Joes steak and crab in Ceasars.

I%26#39;m glad you had a good time! The IP had been our Vegas hotel of choice for many years and many trips, however, we were extremely disappointed with our stay the first weekend of May. Felt the service and property had gone even more downhill since the last time we%26#39;d been. So much that we won%26#39;t go back to stay there again.

But you certainly can%26#39;t beat the price and location! That%26#39;s for sure. And the I agree the dealertainers were fin to watch (although did you have moments of wondering who the heck some of them were supposed to be impersonating? LOL)

Oh - its easy to see who they are - read the name badges!!!! But some of them don%26#39;t mean anything to us in UK.

A taxi driver told us that the hotel was due to be pulled down but was bought out by a big co and that saved it - not sure if he said Ballys

IP is now owned by Harrah%26#39;s Entertainment who now own an unbroken chain of hotels on the Strip%26#39;s east side from Harrah%26#39;s to Paris. Whether IP will still be called IP (or even remain standing) in five years%26#39; time is anybody%26#39;s guess.

Thanks for the TR and update on IP, Garry.

It does get pretty bad press on here, despite it%26#39;s excellent location. People forget that in the UK we don%26#39;t usually expect vast suites with plush upholstery unless we%26#39;re paying a fortune for it!!!

30statesJo, I would have thought that with the extremely weak dollar it would be an ideal time for Brits visiting Vegas to be able to afford real luxury without spending that much at all.

A midweek room at IP right now when converted into sterling comes in at considerably less than a UK Travelodge. I%26#39;m all for saving a few pennies but even if you%26#39;re only in your room for sleeping surely you can splash out a bit more than that. You%26#39;re in Vegas, make the most of things!

I haven%26#39;t stayed at IP for at least 5 years now.

The problem with IP is, that because of its great location, they charge more than they should for their rooms.

I think they have remodeled some, but the others are still the old rooms.

The hotel cost in England is much heigher that here, so you guys are used to paying heigher prices for places like IP.

IP is like your first house...its basic and affordable...and I think a great way to start if your young and on your first adventure to Vegas...It was mine 10 years ago and it has good gambling good drink service and great location...we now stay at the orleans...at this rate Ill be at the Billagio in about 40 years...lol

garrypawson, you came all the way from England to play 1c slots and drink cheap watered down liquor at the Casino Royale? LOL! LOL!

Glad you had a good time...gotta love the IP! (even though its%26#39; evil machines hated me last trip....)
