Is Mix Restaurant at Mandalay a late-night place??

We%26#39;re getting married next Friday in Vegas (I can%26#39;t believe it!) - and have booked a table at Mix for dinner.

I booked for 7.30 as I thought we may see the last of the sunset and then the lights coming on down the Strip.

But as it has a ';nightclub'; feel - am worried that we will be the only ones in the restaurant at that time of night!

Should I book for later in the evening??

I%26#39;m also a bit worried when even the booking agent tells me it has a loungy, nightclub vibe!

I booked it for a memorable experience, especially the view, but with a bit of atmosphere as some of the other restuarants in town seem a bit stuffy. But I don%26#39;t want to feel like I%26#39;m on a dancefloor!

If we request a table alfresco on the terrace - will it be cold??

Thanks for relieving my anxiety!!

Not sure exactly what you have booked, but Mix has a lounge and a seperate restaurant.

The lounge is long and slim where you enter on the right,at the other end there is the kitchen, where you can see the chefs cooking the meals.

To get to the restaurant you pass the kitchen and enter a seperate dining area from the lounge.

There is no terrace in the restaurant, although the views are great.

They do serve some food in the lounge but its more like snacks compared to the restaurant.

There is a bar in the lounge of course and you can take drinks on to the terrace if you wish.

Ahh thanks Viva,

I%26#39;ve not been before, so have just been reading their website and obviously got confused!

I have booked a table at Mix for dinner - so it must be in the restaurant.

Good to know we can take our drinks outside after dinner and then relax on the terrace.

Can%26#39;t wait!

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding...........you do realise its Friday the 13th hope you are not superstitious.

Check out http://www.sunrisesunset.com/calendar.asp for the time of sunset on your wedding day.

Make sure to post a trip report on your return as we are planning to visit mix at sunset on our first night there

Hi Guys,

Well sadly I%26#39;m back home after a fabulous trip (and wedding!) in Vegas.

We booked our table at Mix for 7.30 - but when we arrived at the hotel a few days earlier I spoke to the Maitre D%26#39; and she told me the earlier you arrive at dinner, the more likely you will recieve a table with a view.

So we made our reservation for 6.30 and am very glad we did. There is a terrace at the restaurant and we were seated there, with a great view over Vegas. The view is a bit better from the terrace at the bar, as the restaurant is on the other side of the building - but it was still fabulous!

I was worried that the restaurant would be empty at this early time of the evening, but it was filling up and we got one of the last outside tables.

The food was great, winelist very extravagant and the staff very professional. It has a great atmosphere, lounge music and the other guests laid back for a nice meal and we certainly didn%26#39;t feel rushed. It was a bit chilly on the terrace at this time of year but the gas heaters worked a treat.

We loved our stay at THEhotel - definitely the funkiest and most modern hotel in Vegas with a cool crowd.

From reading this, it looks like the Mix bar overlooks the strip, but the Mix restaurant is on the other side not overlooking the strip? Thus for the best view, it would be better to just go get drinks there and not go for dinner?

Both venues are on the same side of the hotel - but the restaurant terrace is set flush with the hotel, the tables closest to the railing could see the whole of Vegas, we were the next table row over and could see the lights of Vegas, the next block or so up the Strip and we watched the sunset over the hills. It was still a fabulous view. But when you go to the bar it%26#39;s balcony is set overhanging the side of the hotel and has a direct uninterrupted view straight up the strip. So yes the view is better at the bar, but it%26#39;s crowded and you%26#39;re jostling for space, a table on the restaurant terrace still had a great view but you have it all to yourself! Even better, we went to the restaurant first then had a drink at the bar after dinner!

I had Dinner at Mix a couple weeks ago at the same time %26amp; it was Wonderful. The View especially when the lights kick in is UNREAL ~ one of the best views anywhere in Vegas. Also, my Friends who live there 6 months a year made a reservaton for his Birthday in July %26amp; Specifically requested dinner out on the Terrace. It would be Amazing out there for Dinner. It will not be too cold ~ you%26#39;ll Love it

Enjoy!
