Random Circus Circus question

I%26#39;ve read on here that their steak house is one of the best restaurants in Vegas. Yet, the hotel blows.

Why does CC put so much effort into their steakhouse but doesn%26#39;t put effort into bettering their hotel and casino? To have such an upscale restaurant, you%26#39;d think they%26#39;d want to make their hotel a little more upscale too.

??

Random Circus Circus question

I%26#39;m guessing the parents need at least one good thing from the hotel?

Random Circus Circus question

One of the vegas locals checked it out recently, and said they had done some minor improvements with replacing carpeting, etc. The place needs a giant makeover or re-theme, but I guess they don%26#39;t want to pour money into it until MGM/Mirage group can really do it right, or redevelop that property completely. I%26#39;d keep an eye on vegastodayandtomorrow.com for the most up to date ideas/dreams/etc.

I think it%26#39;s also important to realize that they do serve a certain segment of the visitors that really don%26#39;t care about where they stay per se, and just need a cheap place to stay, and/or have kiddos with them. Does seem sad though that they are not getting more revenue out of a piece of land that size.

Random answer: The hotel is making $80 million a year in profits as is. Did your parents do a lot of remodeling when you lived at home? Or did they wait until you moved out? Same principle applie here. They are waiting for the kids to move out before cleaning up the place. And if it ain%26#39;t broke, don%26#39;t fix it.

They are probably making most money out of package travelers. I noticed it%26#39;s often mentioned from British TA members. Also, many of my friends living in Asian stayed there when they went on travel agency packages for West USA.

Strange - that seems like the LAST casino I%26#39;d want to stay at if I traveled halfway across the world to see Vegas.

I know they have a theme, but when I%26#39;ve been in there the theme seemed to be: Old And Dirty. it just seemed like I was walking into the 1980%26#39;s. Early 1980%26#39;s. :)

One word answer ';tradition';....

In the old days, when most of the casinos were owned by individuals, each owner would have his own upscale, relatively fine dinning joint in which to entertain his guests.

CC, one of the elder statesmen left on the Strip (opened in 1968), was the creation of Jay Sarno...a character who was large on the local scene and loved to entertain.

Some of the other ';owner'; steakhouses still remain Downtown at Binion%26#39;s, California (Redwood Bar %26amp; Grill), and Jackie Gaughan still holds court at Roberta%26#39;s Steak House in the El Cortez.

Unfortunately, the best of the Downtown bunch is now gone....The Burgandy Room at Lady Luck, where Andy Tompkins spared no expense.

The CC Steakhouse has been the best at maintaining its quality, ambience and popularity over the years.

You should see some of the British and Irish travel agencies pictures and spiel on C.C. lavishly appointed manor rooms,a wealth of dining options ,including all you can eat buffet, a childrens paradise with free circs acts and so on.

One even says to leave the kids to enjoy the show while you grab a couple of hours in the casino.

To see the brochures you could not fail to be impressed, and the prices whoa dont go there.,a real rip off.

Pearlbob,

I%26#39;ll tell you why. :) Even in Asia, they all know each Vegas hotel has a theme. Mandalay Bay is known as luxurious beach hotel and Venetian is known as fancy canal %26amp; gondola hotel.

CC is known as a mid range hotel with the theme of... What%26#39;s that? C.I.R.C.U.S!!!! Due to this fact, it%26#39;s also highly promoted as a nice family oriented lodging in Vegas. It%26#39;s quite often discussed of during hotel marketing %26amp; planning in Asia. Some Asian companies think it%26#39;s a nice theme that can be ripped for their future properties. People outside from US have no idea how most Vegas goers think of it as a dump.

And to be honest, the rooms at CC didn%26#39;t look that horrible. Well, at least it looked pretty much average from the pics my friends showed.

Got to agree with RUsure, if it isn鈥檛 broke don%26#39;t fix it. CC found its niche market 39 years ago, has no debt, and one of the most profitable Casino-Hotels in Vegas. To change anything would be foolish.

The place gets a lot of bad comments mostly from folks who have never been there, and really are robbing themselves out of a treat of going to the Steakhouse. If they would just put their foolish bias behind them, they just might discover they have been ripped off for years getting second class service/food, and paying twice as much.

CC has really cleaned up the Casino, and all the rooms are remodeled. No the rooms are not like Bellagio, but they are on line with a good Holiday Inn Select. So if you have a family, or on a budget, it is a good choice. No one says you have to gamble or party there. Just avoid the buffet.

taking DD to LV in Aug will probably kill a few hours there at CC since she has never been inside the hotel, will post review when I come back.
