LAX to Las Vegas, NV

In 2 days time, me and my mate Wilf depart for our 6th Road Trip to the USA. We fly into LAX on Friday night, and on Saturday depart for Las Vegas, where we arrive on Sunday and spend three nights.

I%26#39;d really appreciate some tips of a cool place to stay in between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Somewhere with a bar or two, a good atmosphere and nice people. Apart from Las Vegas, we tend to stay away from tourist attractions so that we can see the %26#39;real%26#39; USA.

Also, since we have 10 days after we leave Las Vegas, I%26#39;d appreciate advice on anywhere cool to visit in California, Nevada or Arizona.
