No plane change?

Hey guys, has anyone ever had this happen?

Our return flight from Vegas has a 1-hr stopover at DFW, but our itinerary says there is no plane change, and the continuing flight has the same flight number as the LAS to DFW flight. However, the plane departs DFW from a different gate. Do we get to sit on the plane for an hour? Will we have to get off the plane and run to the other terminal (DFW is HUGE!)? Any insight is appreicated.

Thanks!

Sis

No plane change?

I%26#39;ve done this once a long time ago in DFW, although we didn%26#39;t change gates, so that%26#39;s a little different.

We were coming from Miami to San Francisco, and many people got off the plane in DFW to other destinations, and we were told we could depart and be back in a certain time, or just stay on the plane.

No plane change?

Yes, DFW is huge. Call the airline and ask them about your itinerary.

Interesting. Good to know we may have the option to get up and stretch our legs and maybe grab a bite to eat. It just seems weird that they would taxi the plane around to a different gate with us still on it.

That does sound unusual. I have taken many direct (as opposed to non-stop) flights and we were usually given the option to get off the plane to walk around- assuming we weren%26#39;t behind schedule. If we were late they wanted us to stay on the plane so we wouldn%26#39;t have to reboard with the new people getting on the flight. But we always took off from the same gate we used when we landed.

I would not take much stock in them telling you now what gate your flight 2 months from now will be departing from. I have been at the airport and they have announced 3 gate changes for the same flight. Not really a thing to worry too much about.

If you%26#39;re flying SWA, with their boarding systema 1 hour layover is not much. they start boarding 30 minutes before departure time. So, if you were to leave the plane, you%26#39;d lose the chance at getting a prime seat.

If they%26#39;re flying from Las Vegas to DFW they aren%26#39;t on Southwest...

We%26#39;ve already chosen the seats. We%26#39;re flying American. I guess I%26#39;ll just wait and see what happens. So far flight times haven%26#39;t changed, but they usually do, so I guess the gates will probably change, too. Thanks for the input!

you have what is called a direct flight - if the flight # remains the same.

Almost always you do not change planes, do have a stop.

It is rare, but possible, that you will change planes - usually the size changes for one of the legs. If you do change planes it also possible you will change gates.

Why not non-stop?

anyway - call the airline and ask, it%26#39;s simple.

DFW is large but since they put in the new tram system, you can get to the gates very quickly in the different terminals. I%26#39;ve used it several times, works very well, not much walking either.
