how much average to do Grand Canyon by helicopter?

I just did the Grand Celebration tour with Papillon last week and it%26#39;s amazing, i think we paid about $600ish for two including the add on flight over the strip. I did a bit of shopping around over the web before we went and the price seemed good compared with others, but to be honest having done it, i wouldn%26#39;t have felt ripped off if it had been twice the price. The staff were very efficient and professional, the flight was incredible, and i%26#39;ll remember that $300 for the rest of my life.

The pilot told me that there are only 2 companies who%26#39;ve paid the hefty fees charged by the native american owners to be allowed to land within the Canyon (as this tour does). So although there might seem to be loads of people offering similar tours, i guess that most are just resellers. I can%26#39;t remember the name of the other company with the permit, sorry.

there%26#39;s a bit more detail on the trip in my TR posted earlier today.

Wait until you get here to book this flight. There are discount offers and coupons in the magazines you%26#39;ll find here for these trips.

thank you both, to be honest RUsure I am really happier to book before we go as it is July 4th and we want to be sure we get on it! Also one less thing to worry about once we are there eh!

Thank you all again, help and reviews have been fab and really helping us in planning a fantastic ';honeymoon';

Have you been able to find a good option for this tour to Grand Canyon? We too are in Vegas for 3rd and 4th July so we are looking at getting the best value for money for this trip. There are so many options that i%26#39;m not sure which is best. I wouldlike to be able to land in the canyon for a while just to get the most of the experience but dont rally want to spend 7-8 hors out of my 2 days in Vegas on this trip. I am with you about wanting to book before hand to make sure of the trip. Please let me know if you find a good deal.

How long are you in vegas

Abbie, forget the Grand Canyon on this trip. Save it for when you have more time. Or you could just fly in and out of Vegas and spend your overnight at the Canyon

In my opinion the disadvantage with all the helicopter/plane tours is that you really have very little time at the Canyon. Many posts report people having less than an hour. To pay $700 for a glimpse of the Canyon is not worth it. To appreciate the beauty of it, and to find a little solitude you really need several hours, at the very least. I%26#39;ll say the same thing I alway say; rent a car, drive there yourself, and make it an overnight trip

You could be right. Wehave actually been to the Grand Canyon before, seen the sunrise and sunset and had a helicopter flight over the canyon. I thought the triptothe canyon floor would be something different but it would seem the price for possibly a half hour in the basin is not worth it. Any other suggestions for something great to do while we are in LasVegas?

We booked our heli tour last year with Papillion and it was worth every penny, staff were excellant and very helpful and should we do the tour again we would definatley book with them.

We booked our tour on the internet about 2 months in advance as though we were in Vegas for 7 days there was only 2 days in which we could do the trip.

Did the sunrise heli %26amp; land with pappilon last April, waited until we got to Vegas to book prices were being advertised in the free magazines were a lot cheaper that we found in the UK before leaving.

Paid $260 each, we had 11 days in Vegas so we knew we had plenty of date options.

We had already done flight to GC airport and bus to 3 stops and flight over GC on previous visits, I must say the one last year was absolutely amazing.

Hi Everyone,

thanks for all your comments. To be honest I just booked our tour with Pappillon as we both felt it is one less thing to worry about when we are in Vegas and dont want to be running around like headless chickens! lol

We booked for 4 July, cost $688 for the both of us and we went for the First Class Celebration Tour with Pappillon. Did a bit of researching and they seemed to have the best price. A friend of mine was in Vegas last year and recommended booking before hand as she felt it was a bit of rushing when you are there, and you might end up not doing it. We are in Vegas for 4 days in total, staying in the Bellagio.

Planning on doing a show also but still unsure which to book? any feedback much appreciated!

CdS either Mystere or O.most of the others(Phantom,Mama Mia etc.) can be seen in Ireland or england.
