Car Rental Mem Day Wknd - Yay or Nay

I have already made my rental reservations but Im wondering if it%26#39;ll be worth it.. my brother seems to think that having a car will be much more of a hassle tyhen needed on a busy weekend such as Memorial Day..

So.. what cha think.. Yay or Nay?

Car Rental Mem Day Wknd - Yay or Nay

I%26#39;m renting a car that week. It would be more of a hassle and money to get around vegas in taxis, busses and shuttles. We are planning to hit some of the off strip casinos. We rented a car the last trip and was very glad we did. We saw more this last trip then we did during any of our previous trips.

It just depends what you intend to do with your rental car? If you arent going to leave the strip I wouldnt rent regardless of which weekend it is. Take cabs. If you plan on getting off strip its not only costly but not very easy to take a cab/bus/shuttle and inaddition your options of places to go are limited.

Basically it should boil down to what you think you need the car for, not the fact that its Memorial Day weekend.

I plan to go off strip a bit.. especially during the day.. at night, well its a group going and we will be doing the cab/limo thing..

I just worry about traffic and parking and what not...

I debated cancelling my rental but I am going ahead. Most of our car excursions should be earlier in the day and I am hoping that will help us avoid traffic. We were thinking of doing Red Rock (canyon %26amp; casino) and maybe South Point or GVR so it will help having it.

I see you%26#39;re from Miami reg3sdaddy and I%26#39;m from Orlando so we know what traffic is. Using the interstates for off strip sites isn%26#39;t that bad. The strip is going to be bumper to bumper a lot of the way but using the interstates and side streets are much better. Don%26#39;t be nervous but I wouldn%26#39;t drink and drive in Vegas. I hear the cops there are pretty free to give tickets out.

Don%26#39;t worry about parking. Each hotel has its own parking garage and anyone can use it for free-you don%26#39;t have to be a guest at the hotel to use it.Many of the parking garages can be reached without driving on the strip. If you valet park- and many people like to do that- you just have tip a couple of dollars.

Driving on the strip-esecially at night or on the week-end- can be a pain but you can use the back and side roads to get to many of the hotels. Get a good map. The map in What%26#39;s On- is very good. It has a map of the strip and downtown on one side and the greater Las Vegas area on the other side.

I would never go to Vegas without renting a car-especially if you plan to take get off strip.
