Sunset in Vegas

I%26#39;m coming to vegas for the first time to celebrate my 40th birthday and would like to eat at the Top of the World on the day of my birthday. The advice on this forum seems to be that sunset, when the strip lights up, is the best time to experience this. My question is on the 28th of May, when would sunset be approximately. If any locals could help me out I would appreciate it. Also is there any way of making reservations other than by phone, I am in Scotland and the time difference (expense) is not ideal. The website does not list an e-mail address.

Here ya go for sunset times. Good luck on the reservations.

Thanks, looks like i%26#39;ll have to make a phone call. Scottish accent over the phone may be problematic but we will give it a go.

This website will make a reservation for you for a charge of $4.95 to your credit card - and we have used it before successfully- still costs money , but alleviates the accent problem:

Have you considered Mix at The Hotel,we considered both and are going with mix, pricer, but better food cool surroundings and fantastic views.

C%26#39;mon, no one ever sees a sunset in Vegas.....

I didn%26#39;t even know they had one for the first 25 years of visits. Too busy inside drinkin%26#39; and gamblin%26#39;.

Now, if you want to know about sunrises, I%26#39;m sure there are hundreds on this forum who can tell you their favorite spots (mine personally is walking out of the Golden Gate and going east down Fremont, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks as I head towards the El Cortez).

I%26#39;ve had dinner at Top of the World to see the lights come on but with how slowly the restaurant revolves and depending on where you are in the restaurant you may be doing alot of moving around and rubber necking and not enjoying your meal. Then, there are always other patrons who feel the need to walk up to the windows or between tables to take pictures. I prefer eating a lunch there and seeing the daytime views. It%26#39;s not as crowded and the food is the same as dinners and alot cheaper.

I suggest going to the Eiffel Tower Experience at the Paris hotel and enjoying the sunset and watching the lights come on. It is truly amazing and a full panoramic view which you can walk around and see. Everytime I%26#39;ve done this I have had great views, seen the water show at Bellagio and have taken some amazing pictures.

We did the sunset deal back in 2003 and it was absolutely wonderful. We were there in April and the restaurant wasn%26#39;t even half full. The service was great, not pushy to get us moving, and the food was pretty good, too. We haven%26#39;t been to the other places mentioned in the posts, but would definitely do this one again. Oh, you can hear the rumble of the roller coaster above you, and every once in a while, depending on where you%26#39;re sitting, you%26#39;ll see folks ridin%26#39; off the edge of the building a thousand feet above the north end of the Strip.

After dinner we wandered upstairs and watched the crazy Janpanese tourists riding off the edge of the building. It was windy, but also definitely worth going up.

The High Roller rollercoaster is no more. It is now one of the featured attractions at Lonnie Hammergrens home off of Sandhill Ave between Tropicana and Desert Inn in SE Las Vegas.
