TR 05-05 thru 05-12--Paris and Caesar's Palace: Day One

Travelers: Luke (FIL) Peggy (MIL) both 76. Scott (Husband) and ME both 53.

Flight: We started our trip out with a blast. Flew out of Clt on 05-05. Was flying United and set to leave at 8:00 AM getting into LAS at around 12:30 thru Denver. Well when we got to the gate about 7:00 they were in panic mode. Seems there had been a subsitution of airplanes and the one they sent was smaller that the original one and it was sold out. They had to remove 24 people from that plane. I overheard this and volunteered us to give up our seats if they could get us good conections. The girl said she could to better than good and booked us on a non-stop flight leaving at 1:00. She was sorry but that was the soonest she could confirm us. So we talked and decided to take it. We were hoping to return in July for a the ICAST show but airline rates were too high. For a few hours delay we would take the free tickets they offered us.

The agent also gave us two food vouchers each. One for $10 and one for $15 since we would miss breakfast and lunch. She advised us there was two other non-stop flights leaving, one at 9:30 and one at 11:00. They were full but advised us to stand by. We went and put our name on the first one and went and had breakfast. Believe it or not we got on that plane and arrived in LAS one hour before we were scheduled to on the other flight. We were even able to sit together. Seems there were 6 traveling together that didn%26#39;t make the flight.

Once we were in Vegas we asked about using the other food vouchers we were given in Clt and Chili%26#39;s agreed to accept them. We thought we would eat while waiting on our luggage which wasn%26#39;t due for another hour. When we went to baggage claim we found out the flight we were originally on through Denver had been delayed and wouldn%26#39;t be in until around 3:00. They would deliver our bags to Paris. Yea!! We didn%26#39;t even have to juggle the heavy bags.

Thought we hit a jackpot even before we left. Couldn%26#39;t wait for the gambling to start.

Took a cab (no tunnel) to Paris- $12. Gave driver a $20 and was on our way.

Room: Diamont check in and clerk was very effeciant. Gave us a newly decorated room. Couldn%26#39;t wait to see it. Didn%26#39;t ask for upgrade or view. Got the upgrade but no view. Does%26#39;t matter since we aren%26#39;t in room much. Room was beautiful. Real small but was only going to be 4 of us for one night. Bathroom was large but only one sink. Don%26#39;t understand why when there was room for two they didn%26#39;t do that. Did have separate shower from tub. Oh well we will make do. Oh yeah did also have a 1 cup coffee maker in room with enough coffe for 4 cups.

Off to gamble. The only ones of us that gamble is Peggy and Me. Husbands go along for the free rooms and meals. Yea free for them not us. We finance them.

Peggy and I are low level slot players. People think we are high-rollers because we each have a diamond card. We aren%26#39;t we just play a heck of alot nickels and penny%26#39;s.

Seems everything I put money in ate it so fast it made my head spin. Peggy on the other hand cashed out $100 to $200 every time I turned around. She was probably up about $600 at the end of the day. Me probably down that much or more. I try not to count how much I am down. I just played and lost all day.

Food: Breakfast Clt airport, Lunch-Las airport, Dinner-Diamond Lounge. Not much to report on food for the first day.

Wow, VERY nice score on the flight!!!!! and free food??? and they deliver the luggage!!!!! I can see smiles all around there!!!!

Nickel and pennies and she%26#39;s up $600 and you%26#39;re down that much??? wow, didn%26#39;t know you could even score that much from penny machines!

I should know better, after playing the old Betty Boop nickels at MGM.

Wow, nice way to start off your trip. Free airline tickets, and a direct flight that brought you in an hour early. Hope the rest of your trip was just as lucky.

Good start...yes you can get some pretty nice jackpots from those penny machines..and the bonus rounds are so fun....but I play max..and sometimes it just eats my money like it is starving..lol
