Who has eaten at Hennessey's downtown?

It is a tavern from what I read on their web page.

Any first hand knowledge anyone?

Who has eaten at Hennessey's downtown?

I think we ate here last summer. It is a little Irish pub (bar %26amp; grille) The food was good, staff friendly, reasonable prices. They had some REALLY bad karaoke when we were there, but it was good for a laugh. The outdoor patio was nice. If this is the one you are talking about, I would recommend it.

bump

I think this is the same place that owns Mickie Finns Fish bar and Grill-Or is it the same place I do not know- but i will be investigating when we visit in July-

I did however see a coupon in Restaurant .com for Mickie Finns and maybe the Hennessey as well-

S ;-)

Mickie Finns is right next door to Hennesey%26#39;s- both are across the Plaza from Neonopolis on Fremont Street. When we were on Fremont St. walking toward El Cortez last week , we didn%26#39;t dine at either but did note and comment after walking by several times that Finns seemed to be doing much more business than Hennesey%26#39;s every time we passed. We wondered if that was also true on weekends as we were there Tues- Friday. There were very few customers at Hennesey%26#39;s and no one sitting outside, while Finn%26#39;s patio was fairly well occupied with diners.

Mickie Finns was displaying signs for several specials ( Two fer Tuesday when burgers and taco plates were 2/1 fo example) also advertising a kareoke night if I recall. WE did wonder how eitehr would do much business as Neonopolis was pretty much dead- only saw a handful of customers in Jillians about the only place there that looked open - and the upper emd of Fremont St. is much livlier than that area.

Not really first hand knowledge, but maybe a little help I hope.

Don%26#39;t know if they share an owner, but both seem to have been built at exactly the same time .

Leaving Sunday and have restaurant.com certificates for both. Will let you know how the food is.

Have restaurant.com certs for Hennesy%26#39;s, Micky Finz and Jillians, saving them for our trip in September, when we will be hopefully staying downtown (waiting for a nice offer at the Golden Nugget) three nights. My hope is that these places are at least still open in September. I, too, will post a report.

Good info. Thank you all.

If I have it right then, Hennessey%26#39;s %26amp; Finn%26#39;s are past the Fitz. but before the El Cortez? Are they across LVB?

Will look for your trip reports on these.

Maria, if my directionally challenged memory serves me, both are not across LVB - they are the first things on Fremont St up from LVB. Hennessey%26#39;s is first going up from LVB- you can%26#39;t miss the giant beer mug on the roof and Finns just beyond that on the same side. They are directly across Fremont St from the that Neonopolis complex where the movie theaters and Jillians are.

The Cortez is about a block beyond LVB , so you will pass both restaurants when walkingh down Fremont St toward El Cortez. on your way down to it. Beyond LVB htere are a row of fairly seedy storefronts some vacant and also two ';trendy'; clubs that apparently get busy on weekends- the Beauty Bar ( looks like an old hair salon but is a bar) and the Griffin. You can clearly see the Cortez from the traffic light at LVB and Fremont and the walk is short. Not likely you%26#39;ll be approached at all, but if you are it would only be panhandler mumbling ';got any change'; and if you ignore him, he%26#39;ll amble away. It almost never happens to us.

I hope my memory is pretty accurate on waht is wheer- if I%26#39;m not right I know I%26#39;m pretty close. This answer will bump it up- so a local or Chitown Gambler can see your question..

We were in Hennessys just over a week ago, my wife wanted to see what a traditional ';irish'; bar was like vegas style. It wasn%26#39;t very irish, the traditional irish food wasn%26#39;t traditional irish food (us irish aren%26#39;t well known for our chilli dishes). Fish and Chips were nice, got a decent pint and it was nice to sit out on the veranda for a while supping a cold one. Definitely wasn%26#39;t busy although it was a monday night. Was quite busy on the saturday night when we passed by.

I ate there once and enjoyed it. I also had the fish and chips plus a Guinness. There was a big party going on in their back room otherwise it was pretty slow. Yeah, it wasn%26#39;t what you%26#39;d call authentic Irish but it was pretty good.
