Early check in on Memorial Day weekend..possible???

We are slated to arrive in Vegas on Sunday morning (9am) and staying at the MGM. The game plan was to rent a car and drive out to Zion for some exploration during the day then off to Rio for Penn %26amp; Teller for the evening. Was curious to find out if it was possible to do the airport check in at 9am to secure keys for the room to save the agrivation of getting back to MGM (after Zion) at 5pm, stand in line at MGM for maybe an hour to get room keys, a rushed shower, then off to Rio. Just trying make things as smooth as possible in getting room keys in advance, going at our own pace to and from Zion, lesurly clean up, then off to the show.

Any insight would be much appreciated

mmmm, maybe around 10 or 11am if you%26#39;re lucky - just like winning, but you won%26#39;t really know until you get there though...

Wouldn%26#39;t think a lot of people would be checking out Sunday since Monday%26#39;s a holiday. I%26#39;d think that rooms would be scarce Sunday morning and you may not be able to check in that early. Worth trying though.

Really no way to know. If they have a room available then yes, if not, then no.

That sounds like a really long day, regardless of whether you get a room early or not...Las Vegas to Zion is about 3 hours each way. Counting the time you will presumably spend getting a rental car (and baggage claim?) you may not get on the road until 10:30 a.m.

Then you get to Zion at 1:30 p.m. and need to be back on the road to Las Vegas by 4:00 p.m. at the latest in order to get into your room and change for the show. The good news is that the show doesn%26#39;t start until 9:00, but still...6 hours of driving for 2+ hours at Zion doesn%26#39;t sound like anything I%26#39;d want to do.

Yeah, I was thinking that it may be a very long day to try and wrap so much into it. Considering the time we are arriving, we didn%26#39;t just want to get off the plane and start gambling. Could make for a long 5 days if we are lose big right out of the airport :-)

Well, there are certainly tons of things to see and do in the Las Vegas area if you don%26#39;t want to gamble. Many of them don%26#39;t require a 6 hour round trip.

Have you already visited Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Mount Charleston, Red Rocks?

if it takes an hour to check in at any hotel why stay - so many properties that have great customer service no need to waste an hour standing in line. if you can%26#39;t check in early why come back to the hotel so late and be rushed, as you say? come back earlier - of course you have to choose what works for you, more time on your trip may be worth it to you - personal chocie.

as far as early check in ask when you arrive - can%26#39;t possibly know ahead of time

P %26amp; T are funny

yep, done Hoover Dam pretty unimpressed. I guess pre-911 when you could tour the bottom would have been pretty exciting. Only getting to see the inner walls and generators didn%26#39;t really do a lot for us, but may interest others.

Have not been to Valley of Fire, but that was also on our list. It seemed like Bryce and Zion were a little more picturesque.

For other%26#39;s on the list, but much further out of LV, I highly recommend Joshua Tree State Park as well as Death Valley.

I was wondering the same thing last week so i called the MGM to request early check in (we get to Vegas at 10.41 am Sunday the 27th) and the lady told us its likely we may get a room by the time we get to the hotel, but if not just check bags in and go by the pool or check out the sites and it shouldnt be long after that......
