MGM Celebrity Suite vs. TheHotel

Hubby and I are heading to Vegas from the UK for the first time in August for a ten day stay. Neither are big gamblers but we want to explore and see the hotels, do some shopping, get some sun, maybe golf, etc. We%26#39;re planning to split our time between Vegas proper and a few day trips out and about but do like the idea of chilling out in a really comfortable room at the end of the day. We%26#39;ve narrowed down our hotel to either a Celebrity Suite at the MGM Grand or a suite in TheHotel at Mandalay Bay. Prices being similar from what I%26#39;ve seen, which would everyone recommend and why?

For a first visit to Vegas location is a big factor and for that reason alone I%26#39;d lean towards MGM. As nice as THEhotel is, you can end up feeling that bit isolated at the far south of the Strip.

The Celebrity Suite is my pick. It%26#39;s a real nice layout in a great place the MGM Grand and much more centrally located for what you want to do.

I agree the MGM.

I%26#39;m really picky with my rooms! I stayed at MGM recently in a bungalow queen and it was very nice. I did see the celebrity suite though and it was excellent too. I just can%26#39;t say enough about how great MGM was! The location is a lot better too, with access to the monorail. I know a lot of people don%26#39;t care for the monorail but I used it a lot and found it convenient.

THEhotel is generally rated as one of the top hotels on the Strip. But in my opinion, my one knock on that is location. Sounds like you%26#39;ll have a car so maybe that won%26#39;t be a problem.

I really like the MGM, and it%26#39;s location. I also like the Monorail which starts at the MGM. I like the fact that MGM has so many dining choices. And I like that%26#39;s it%26#39;s one of the largest hotels in the world. Vegas is HUGE. So is the MGM!

me and DW are staying in august as well, when is your stay? i%26#39;m staying at the Celeb suite at the MGM, did you use the mkt069 offer code? might be worth a shot if you can still use it. good luck!

TheHotel will have better shopping close. The pool complex @MGM is better. Both properties have same arrangements for golf courses.MGM is big but when you walk from TheHotel to the tram it is about the same as walking through MGM.

The C Suite is the mid suite @ MGM and very comfortable.I lean towards the MGM suite over the MB rooms.

You have better options of pools @ MGM unless you like the wave pool and sand. MB has great concerts during the summer at the beach.

Sounds like the MGM Grand is the better choice. We are usually really picky about our rooms too, so if another picky pants gives it two thumbs up it looks good to go!

I%26#39;m not entirely sure the exact code number I checked, there was the summer splash one I think that%26#39;s what I was looking at? Is it even possible there will be other rate codes issued in the next 30 days or so? I%26#39;ll keep my eye on fatwallet in either case.

We may not actually book until next month so the actual trip date is still very much TBD pending flight prices...it costs a fortune to fly anywhere from the UK in August so every penny saved is another margarita by the pool once we finally get there!
