LA to Vegas-route?

We are driving from LA to Vegas to return from our holiday in June and would ideally like an overnight stop on the way.

Where would be a good halfway point to stop?

LA to Vegas-route?

It is a 4 hour drive, and the mid point city is called Barstow, but there is nothing in there. I wouldn%26#39;t waste my time stopping anywhere

Is four to five hours too long of a drive for you? Unless you%26#39;re driving on a Friday night, that%26#39;s all it takes to get from L.A. to L.V. Baker, CA is pretty much the half-way point, nothing there in the way of hotels, a few no-name motels and a few tee-pees. Barstow is where you%26#39;ll find a lot of hotels and motels, but it%26#39;s barely 2 hours outside of L.A. So, unless it%26#39;s your honeymoon, I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be needing a bed so soon.

Gas up in LA and dont stop until you get to Vegas.

stop and shop in barstow at the outlet malls then stop in baker and try some good eats at the mad greek and check out the worlds tallest thermometer then stop at stateline at buffalo bills for a ride on the desperado

Do all of that stopping and it will take all day to make the 275 mile drive.

I would go all the way to Vegas.

thanks for all your suggestions everyone, seems uncessary to stop from what you are saying.

The reason we planned to do this was that we will be making our way back to Vegas on Saturday and we need to be there at 1pm to make our flight home. I read somewhere that at weekends the 4 hour drive can double-is this true?? If it is going to take 8 hours we dont want to do that in the morning!!

re: the drive - drive until you feel the need to eat, stretch, or use the facilities. otherwise, keep on truckin. it%26#39;s not a really hard non-stop.

re: the return - you%26#39;ll only add time leaving from vegas on a sunday after about 11am - 12pm. saturday will be fine.

Stocktipp said Saturday would be fine, and I agree. Most people do NOT arrive on Saturday, but rather Friday night.

Is your flight at 1pm or you want to be at the airport by 1? Also, you never said WHERE in LA you are starting from...LA is huge, and that might make a difference in our advice.
